About me
My name is Katarzyna Mikołajewska. I have been working with language, communication, and people for many years.
I am a Norwegian-Polish translator (also supporting projects involving English), a language teacher, and a mediator. I hold a degree in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Gdańsk, as well as degrees in Applied Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Warsaw, where I specialised in mediation and negotiation. I am currently further developing my expertise in mental health and crisis intervention.
As part of my professional development, I completed a year-long Mediation Studies programme based on Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which deepened my understanding of conflict - particularly its sources, dynamics, and the role of unmet needs. My approach is grounded in the belief that effective communication is not just about language proficiency, but about understanding context, emotions, and relationships.
For over 10 years, I have worked in international environments, both in Poland and abroad, including Norway, using English and Norwegian in my daily professional practice. My work includes written and spoken translation, language teaching, and supporting clients in situations that require both precision and empathy.
As a language instructor, I have taught Norwegian at various proficiency levels (A1–C1) for many years. I take an individual approach, tailoring the learning process to each person's goals, needs, and working style, while building confidence in real communication.
Alongside this, I work in a non-governmental organisation, managing projects related to mental health, anti-discrimination, and social education. I also draw on experience gained through training in countering disinformation, public communication, and the prevention of violence and workplace bullying.
In my work, I combine:
- language expertise and international experience
- knowledge of communication and mediation
- experience working across diverse cultural contexts
I believe that good communication can genuinely change reality - it helps build understanding, reduce tension, and open up new possibilities.
If you are looking for a Norwegian translator, want to learn the language, or need support in communication, feel free to get in touch.
